The Dunes (Official Motion Picture Score) marks the first feature-length film score from artist & composer Klayton. Best known for his high-octane electronic-rock project Celldweller, Klayton approached The Dunes with elaborate sound design and pristine production, to create a disturbingly ambient and frenetic audio companion to the psychological thriller. Using pulsing rhythms and cinematic tension, Klayton delivers a sense of unease with creeping beats and airy synths across the score, providing the perfect soundtrack for a descent into madness.
“My mind has always naturally understood the concept of audio/visual synchronization, so scoring to picture has been something I knew I would organically venture into. Having the opportunity to score my first feature film gave me the license I needed to explore new sonic and compositional territories. From an electric drill on a cello, custom built instruments, extreme metal blastbeats, and a copious amount of modular synths, my aim was to have the score become more diverse and erratic throughout the film, to follow the arc of the main character ‘Gerald’.” – Klayton
